Communicating with Images - Task 3 Local Artist

Pointillism /ˈpɔɪntɨlɪzəm/ is a technique of painting in which small, distinct dots of pure color are applied in patterns to form an image. Georges Seuratand Paul Signac developed the technique in 1886, branching from Impressionism. The term Pointillism was first coined by art critics in the late 1880s to ridicule the works of these artists, and is now used without its earlier mocking connotation. Neo-impressionism and Divisionism are also terms used to describe this technique of painting called pointillism.

How to do?
  • fire to bend the material
  • heat to create texture

One of the favorite from Mr. Suzlee Ibrahim

 Full Moon (2013)

This sculpture actually is two piece of sculpture combine together become one full moon. From my first sight I thought that this is a yellow yolk or cheesecake with round shape. But after the interview with Mr. Suzlee Ibrahim I only know that this is a Full moon.

Description
This is an artwork from Mr. Suzelee Ibrahim given title "Full moon". It is created on 2013 using materials are polyurethane and oil. I saw a circle yellow and round shape. There is no subject matter and it is a wall sculpture.

Analysis
From this sculpture, there is only yellow colour, This sculpture have a little contrast from the spotlight. There do not have any shape that have been arranged, it all is random from the artist from his personal sketch. This is a technique by using heat to burn and touch the glass acrylic to create texture and shape.

Interpretation
The relationship between the artwork and the name is from the artist sketch based on what is on his mind and his emotion and feel that time. According to Mr. Suzlee Ibrahim, his sculpture do not bring any message or story. He just sketch out what is in mind and do it with emotion when do the sculpture. I do not understand this sculpture until Mr. Suzlee explain it is a full moon which have two separate pieces combine together become one.

Judgement
This is the first time I see real wall sculpture like this so I am quite like this artwork. It is a new and special sculpture for me to learn. I will try to learn this in future since it is like so much fun in creating new and special sculpture. Mr. Suzlee is already a successful painter before he joined the sculpture field, I think in the future he will also become a successful wall sculpture artist.
